U-Bahn Rolltreppen scheinen hochkomplizierte und filigrane Technische Wunderwerke zu sein, der eine Spezialist den die BVG hierfuer in ganz Berlin
einsetzt scheint hoffnungslos ueberfordert zu sein.
Ich fordere mehr Ausbildungsplaetze fuer deutschlands Zukunft.
Beruf mit Perspektive: Mechatroniker mit Fachrichtung Personenbef�rderungsmittel zur �berwindung einer H�hendistanz, bei dem sich bewegende Metall- oder Holzsegmente Treppenstufen bilden.

Start of by looking at a sign of a company selling and renting real-estate:

Will all the building blocks in the right place ?

Hotel Windows, a small sign on the side claims it has WiFi and pay-tv available
in every room.

Looks like just another hotfix to me.

Advertising for versatel DSL phone/internet service:

Translated "We called versatel service, and the same day a technichian came round",
(Sign is not saying whether he was able to fix this problem)
[They where probably using their mobile, because landline would be versatel aswell ;-P) ]
I myself would prefer DSL service from a Company, where I dont't have to call for a technichian in the first place.

Here's another one

Wonder how many Megabytes per year you might get in revenue at the DSL-Bank ?

BCB sound a bit like something you might want to try at weekends....

BEWARE of FON WifiSpots

These things seem to utterly confuse the Phone somehow.

Sitting in a bar (say 'Kneipe') I was using my Phone as usual reading news,
walking around market and all.
Suddenly without apparent reason the phone tells me it's 'lost the server connection'.

Poking around a bit I found it somehow tryed to connect to a FON Spot (fon.com).

Theese suckers are unencryptet open WiFi spots, which will give you a DHCP ip address and look
like just about any usable WiFi connection, except every bit of traffic is redirected to the
FONSpot giving you a funny or no repliy at at all for ICMP etc, HTTP traffic gets redirected
to a 'Pay and loging' page posing a the original URL.

This seems to utterly confuse the Phone (in my case the WiFi indicator didn't even schow
in the status bar).

Switching off WiFi got me back my G3.HDSPA .......

Motorola Milestone

Setting up a USB connection to this Moth**fu**cker for the first time can be a real pain in the arse.

Not only you have to select USB 'Debugging' under Settings->Applications->Development, you also have to set the 'USB notification mode' to none.
(which is not what I'd call having a connection :-) )
To accomplish this, you have to 'drag down' [I'm really new to touchscreens] the so called 'Notification Bar', what is simply the bar on top, amongst other things displaying the time.
Drag it towards the middle of the screen.
You will see an entry 'USB connection', select it and set it to 'none'.

Once thats done adb from Android SDK can talk to the phone.

Rooting the milestone is quite easy, just follow the steps in this Video.

This is needed if you want to use your phone to access the internet using wifi Tethering.....

Next: Exploring android

From what I can tell by looking at the various directories present on the phone the
command line/tools part is pretty basic.

I'll have to explore Android a little further :-)

Fondling with the Firmware

Ok, since Android itself is not a big secret I moved on to taking a look at the
firmware SHOLS*.sbf.

First you have to split that into several *.smg file (use sbf-recalc 1.2.9).

This will leave you with a bunch of files with CG in the name.

CG31 contains some sort of loader and a kernel command line

on my O2 it's this:

I'm not quiet shure about the format of the kernel itself, but there's a ramdisk in it...

CG36,CG37 and CG39 are yaffs2 images which I have unpacked here .

CG42,CG45,CG47 and CG61 are (at least on my phone) just filled with 0xff.

Once I'm back at my machine at home (tommorow evening), I'll investigate further....
